Computex 2010

Here it is: The 30th anniverary of Computex. The second biggest computer expo and biggest computer and technology fair in the world. Computex 2010 was held June 1 to June 5 and I went there during the two last days.
The picture above is the view from the second floor of TWTC Hall 1 which I went to Friday.

Those four red things on the chipset inside the glassbox are graphics cards.

At Computex all the big players in the tech market plus many others will gather every year to release big new products and show off all their stuff. It's mainly held for press and wholesale purposes but if you come on the last day, (which is the only day open to the public,) then you can also buy stuff directly from a few of the booths. I bought a portable USB Microscope.

GIGABYTE broke the 3DMark world record in 3D graphics rendering performance with this machine.

Intel announced more plans about it's new Atom processors. One guy explained to me about a processor that would generally use about 2.8 Watt. All of the Atom processors have pretty low TDP, but are not thought to be used only for small computers, cellphones and embedded systems.

Also, this year, you could get everything waterproofed. Here's waterproof memory cards.

And here's a waterproof fan. Let's see if they manage to assemble a submersible gaming PC to use the fan with for the show next year.

Of course, many of the products there are not that innovative. For example there's lots of different designs in speakers, USB keys, displays and projectors that are not so interesting. I won't be writing a lot about that kind of stuff.

And since we are in Asia, there's some funny occurences such as copycatting and even copyright infringement. I saw a company that used the Internet Explorer icon in their logo. The company running the booth are not exactly doing anything illegal I believe. But it's quite obvious, isn't it? And a bit unrelated too. They sell security cameras and it's not that they're especially small.

You will have to wait to get full coverage though. There's really loads of stuff to tell about, and since I was really awed by this show, I'm probably going to write a lot about it. I don't think I will do with just one post, frankly.
But right now I'm tired to death. Have never had such a lack of sleep before I believe. I'm really running on low battery and haven't really slept much at all for the last two weeks. Much worse with only about 3 and 5 hours sleep the last two nights and I'll have to get up early tomorrow as well.

Wah. I wanna show u nice stuffs!
