Went to this IBM party thing today. It was crazy.
Dresscode said: Either you should dress up in traditional dress, school uniform or formal work clothes. And look at the outcome. Perhaps I should stock up on some of those dresses if I have any spare space when I get home. I bet they'll be popular. (Yeah, could make a good business importing those perhaps? :D)
)
As you can see, a lot of women work at IBM, and yeah, they're probably overly overrepresented in my pictures since it was Maxine, my host sister, who brought me here, and so, I had to met all of her friends. As you can see, the school uniform is not a bad choice for dressing up either. Now, can you guess the age of this girl next to me?
)
The hall was really big. Had 290 tables with 10 people seated by each so that's quite a different dimension from the rotary meetings you can tell. Of course they have a big stage with a lot of activities on.
)
Most of the people on stage are people working for IBM or who has some sort of relation. Therefore, you could see a lot of gorgeous female secretaries performing on the stage as well as a lot of slightly older and less shapely bosses which were in turn all male. (Well, that's not the actual story behind all the performance. Actually I got introduced to a surprising number of female managers and bosses there, so maybe Taiwan is actually not as man-dominated as one would think. (But that's just for a foreign company that deals in high-technology products, I still doubt there's much here to come for if you're a feminist.)
)
But oh well, backstage yarr! Nice to have some good connections.
)
I really like this clothes style they had around here in the old days. It's totally understandable that you can see people wearing them quite often if there's any special ocassion or event they can use them with.
)
We had to leave early as I'm still going to school tomorrow, so we went to take photos. There's a bunch of stuff in the entrance that you can use for taking pictures if you can manage to get there when there's not a long line for using them. Of course most of the stuff was too small for me though.
)
I'm going to finish off with this picture. I'd like you to take notice on the second girl from the left, who is Maxine, my host sister that took me there. Thanks a bunch for that!
It's too bad most of the pictures are too blurry to use, it was a cool party though, that's for sure.
Now, allow me to make an emergency landing on that soft object over there, just a few meters from me.
