Kainan contest culture

by sander21. October 2009 17:58

Did I perhaps mention the English singing contest I was in earlier in the year? That's for the second graders just so that you know - the English song contest.
Now there's another contest which is for the first graders. It's a lot harder in fact as you have to do a lot of complicated stuff apart from singing a not too easy song here's some pictures.

People will dress up in pretty crazy ways since the decoration is a very big factor towards winning. This picture is quite far away, but don't worry, I went down there and up really close to people, actually.

Just first, I'd like to ask what that guy might be doing there, on top of the scene where the principal is holding his speech. Heh.

So, people will first march synchronously to the leader of the class, then line up like this and start singing (yelling) in a fashion so that everyone in the school can hear it.

As you can see, almost everyone at KaiNan is following the event. Except for those who have to study way too hard all the time.
Actually, there's no contests for the third grade since they have to study very hard as they're going to have the graduation exams at the end of the year.

After all we're in a prison. So why not have prisoners too? Well... That's probably not what they're trying to look like. Actually maybe I'm just a little too happy about making jokes on the prison thing.

These are all dressed up like a famous Taiwanese singer who goes to college and makes a lot of funny songs.

If you look closely you can see that the leader is dressed up the most. He's even wearing a wig to look more like the singer. Also, he made some pretty good performed arm movements and other expressions there which put a lot of humor into it.

Half of the classes at the school are composed entirely of boys, allowing them to do something like this. This is because the school has classes where you can focus on stuff such as hardware production or data managing. Much like the HTX in Denmark. I'm pretty happy for being in a class with a few more girls than boys in it. That's almost like home in the STX.

These guys were dressed up as a car because they're in the class that teach how to repair cars.

So at the end, every class is rated with points for a number of factors. I can't read enough Chinese yet to decipher who won unfortunately.

After school I went to Ximending with my classmates again to have some fun and buy Chinese music.

Before I go to bed, I'd just like to drop a link to Akoru972077's Blog. The blog is all in Chinese as well is the page hosting the blog, but you might be able to go and check on the scary pictures she put there (not really). She's one of of classmates at KaiNan and she's into cosplay. A lot it seems. She showed me a bunch of pictures today of her and some of her friends costumes so I'm probably going to go and see some interesting stuff like that in the future. Perhaps I can bring a few photos up that I can take myself in the next weeks end if I'm lucky.

Untill next time, have fun.
